MAW Elementary Program

September 8, 2020 by Dusanka Stulic

“Education is a natural process carried out by the child and is not acquired by listening to words but by experiences in the environment.” -Maria Montessori

MAW Elementary Program

Elementary (Grades 1- Grade 6)

Montessori Academy of Windsor offers an exceptional Elementary School program for Grade 1 through 6. Our Elementary curriculum meets and/or exceeds the Ontario Curriculum requirements while using Montessori Method and Philosophy making the learning process fun and enjoyable for children. The curriculum includes Language, Mathematics, Cultural, Geography, History, Biology, Science, French, Chinese Mandarin, Art and Physical Education. The Elementary environment is a mixed-age group setting with learning materials appropriate for each age. The younger children learn from the older ones, while older students can teach and be role models for younger ones. Students work at their own pace, and the learning environment is designed to accommodate a wide range of interests, abilities, and learning styles. During the work cycle, the teacher circulates and gives lessons and other assistance to individuals or small groups of students. The Montessori Program is open to students with or without prior Montessori experience.

Elementary (Grades 6 to 8)

Applicants wishing to register their child in our Upper Elementary program are able to have their name added to our wait list.

Before and After School

MAW offers a Before (7:00 am – 9:00 am) and After School Program (3:30 pm-7:00 pm) serving the diverse needs of families for extended care. This program incorporates the characteristics of a Montessori environment such as freedom of choice, respect, exploration, movement and consistency. Teachers provide age-appropriate organized games and activities, offering a great time for students who are preparing for or ending their day at Montessori.
